Kitchen Remodel | Serenity Meets Style | Lewis Remodeling

When our clients first invited us into their home, the kitchen was outdated and felt disconnected from the rest of the space. A common wall separated it from a walk-in pantry and wet bar, making the layout feel small and segmented. We could immediately see the potential.

We started by carefully removing the dividing walls and installing new structural beams to support the expanded layout. That single change completely transformed the space. Suddenly, natural light poured in from multiple directions, and what was once a series of small rooms became one open, flowing kitchen that now feels twice the size.

The island became the centerpiece — a deep blue-black statement piece topped with a stunning quartzite slab that adds both drama and elegance. It’s where everyone naturally gathers. To balance that boldness, we used light white-oak cabinetry for warmth and texture, creating a calm, coastal feel that’s easy to live in but still elevated in style.

We integrated high-end appliances throughout — a 48-inch Wolf range, a Sub-Zero refrigerator, and a Cove dishwasher — to match the level of craftsmanship we brought to the build. The bar area, once tucked away behind walls, is now fully connected to the kitchen, featuring geometric tilework, glass-front cabinets, and a built-in wine cooler. It’s perfect for entertaining or winding down at the end of the day.

Lighting played a significant role in setting the tone. We added under-cabinet and toe-kick LED lighting for soft, layered illumination that highlights the materials and gives the space a warm, inviting glow after sunset. Every detail — from the backsplash that catches the light to the brass accents that add just the right touch of sophistication — was chosen to create a space that feels refined yet relaxed.

All told, this project perfectly represents what we love about building and design — taking down barriers, both literal and visual, to create spaces that bring families together. This Santa Cruz kitchen now feels like the heart of the home — open, modern, and built to make new memories for years to come.
